Pours a cloudy, brassy golden hue, crowned with a lofty inch of lumpy, sparkling white foam that gives up its ground at a very casual pace. By the five minute mark, it has dropped down to a creamy quarter-inch cap, thicker near the collar where it merges with a modest band of lace. Good looking hefe. The aroma verges upon a banana bread bomb, with overripe, bruised banana esters and a firm bready, wheaty malt sweetness sliding into the star roles; meanwhile, the bit parts are filled in by yeasty clove spice, orange citrus and a peppery note.

The soft initial taste is accompanied by malted wheat and caramel flavors mixed with hints of clove, banana and yeast. This is followed by a lingering finish of sun-ripened aroma hops from the Hallertau region. Urweisse contains slightly more carbon dioxide than other ERDINGER Weissbier – making it a lively taste sensation.

The recipe dates back to the brewery’s founding days in 1886. The bottle and nostalgic label also awake memories of days gone by. This smooth wheat beer specialty tastes best when served in its own specially developed, hand-blown glass.
